Dr. Anne Klassen
Dr. Anne Klassen is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Associate Member of the Department of Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics as well as the CanChild Center for Childhood Disability Research at McMaster University. Dr Klassen completed her doctorate in Health Services Research at the University of Oxford in 1997. She has since held back-to-back CIHR funding as postdoctoral fellow, new investigator and mid-career award holder. She is internationally known for her expertise in developing PRO instruments for pediatric and adult patient groups. She is co-developer of PRO instruments for adult plastic and reconstructive surgery patients, i.e., BREAST-Q, FACE-Q and BODY-Q, as well as pediatric patients, i.e., CLEFT-Q (for cleft lip and/or palate) and TRANSITION-Q (for measuring self-management skills in adolescents aged 12 and older). She currently leads an international study funded by CIHR to field-test the CLEFT-Q in 8 countries. Her new project (FACE-Q KIDS) will provide PRO instruments for use with patients aged 8 to 22 years with acne vulgaris, birth marks, burns, ear anomalies, facial asymmetries, and facial paralysis.
